Overview of BETS Course Working with Job Centre
Blackburn College has reviewed and revised BETS (Basic Employability and Training course) to cater better for the needs of ESOL learners, referred through JCP advisors. Vocational options in Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Business and Skills for Life are now included. The ongoing liaison with advisers ensures maximum support and guidance for learners. The Overview of BETS outlines the developments and progress that has been made.

A Liverpool ESOL Pathfinder Project
Action Plan for Working with Job Centre Plus
In Liverpool a series of meetings and Language and Cultural Awareness training sessions have been held with JCP advisors across the city. The training was successful and had many positive outcomes, which included JCP Basic Skills managers from Liverpool and Wirral attending, with the Pathfinder manager, London based meetings to discuss future ESOL/JCP working relations. The Action Plan for working with Job Centre Plus was written by local JCP basic skills managers and ESOL Pathfinder managers.
