Teacher Training Network Events

In the midst of radical changes in the field, LonCETT and the NRDC regularly convene teacher training events across the region.  The purpose of these meetings is to provide:

  • exchanging-expertise workshops
  • updates
  • training sessions
  • a combination of the above

As we move forward towards the reforms of teacher training, the range of teacher training is expanding.  A recent SfLQI NRDC publication highlighted the need for teacher education programmes to embrace all contexts to cater even more effectively for 'the full breadth of the learning and skills sector'.  There is a need to prepare teachers for work-based learning, offender learning, voluntary and community learning and blended learning. The NRDC report identified the need for teacher education programmes 'to reflect and cater for teachers working in both discrete and embedded forms of delivery'.  To help with this process, talent London is planning to convene meetings which bring together teachers with expertise in these particular areas and teacher trainers who would like updating.

We would welcome your ideas for future meetings.  Think about what you as teacher trainers or managers of teacher training find useful.  For example, would you like to meet with other specialists in your own area or teacher trainers working across specialisms?  Let us know what you would like the focus of future meetings to be.

To join the London teacher trainer network or to find out more about the network and coming events, contact Vera Hutchinson: v.hutchinson@ioe.ac.uk or complete and return the registration form.
