The Institute for Learning (IfL) is the professional body for teachers, trainers and assessors across further
education (FE) , including adult and community learning, emergency and public
services, FE colleges, the armed services, the voluntary sector and work-based
learning.
All of IfL's work is driven by a commitment to promote, value and develop the professionalism of members. A key priority is to support individual teachers' and trainers' learning so that they can maintain their high professional status and have long-term continuing professional development (CPD) interests as career teachers. | Gaining QTLS or ATLS - Professional FormationTeachers and trainers can gain Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or Associate Teacher Learning and Skills (ATLS) status by successfully going through Professional Formation, which is: 'the post-qualification process by which a teacher demonstrates through professional practice - (a) the ability to use effectively the skills and knowledge acquired whilst training to be a teacher; (b) and the capacity to meet the occupational standards required of a teacher.'
