Suggested use The SMART Notebook files are excellent for use in class with an interactive whiteboard and a data projector. The Powerpoint files can also be used by the teacher with a data projector, however I uploaded it onto the College's VLE (Moodle) so that the students could self-access it outside class time (and outside the college) The content in these materials is (c) 2003 DFES but it can be reproduced for non-commercial or training purposes on the condition that the source is acknowledged. Any images not taken from Skills for Life were taken by myself. I have found that students react well to the visuals and the fact that they can get up and do the matching exercises - when it is used with an interactive whiteboard. I have also found that since I have started using these files it has become very easy to give a quick recap of previous lessons.
Technical information These files have the sound embedded in them - so they are a bit on the chunky side. The SMART Notebook files are in two versions - one for SMART notebook v.9 - 9.1 and one for v.9.5 (called "new version"). This reflects the different software currently installed in this college - they will only work with SMART interactive whiteboards (the ones with the four coloured markers in holders at the bottom) - The software can be downloaded free, subject to certain conditions, frow www.smarttech.com. The biggest difference between the two versions is that the sound files can be embedded into the newer version where they are just attached in the older version. The sound SHOULD work on the powerpoints, but I've had a few problems - it may need to be tweaked a bit. This is still a work in progress - please take these materials and do what you like to them/with them - All feedback will be welcomed.

This is lovely but the audio doesn't work on my computer. Could this be a problem with Mac?
Thanks

Thanks for the feedback - I've never used this on a Mac, so it's could be that...
It might work if you add the audio back in in SmartNotebook - This guide tells you how to do that... http://classroom201x.wordpress.com/2010/01/24/useful-features-in-smart-notebook/

Ok, I've had a load of problems uploading these - but this should now work - you will have to rename the word files, changing the extension (They're not really word files - I just had to 'disguise' them so that this site would let me upload them).

If you can't get them to work, please post a review here or get in touch.
