| Description | Tutors required to teach maths / numeracy courses to adult learners (classes from Entry 1 – Level 2, including GCSE). You will hold suitable subject qualifications, have relevant knowledge and skills and previous experience of teaching mixed ability adult groups. As a condition of employment all applicants should be qualified in their subject with a teaching or training qualification, Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS) or equivalent as a minimum. Teachers without relevant teacher training qualifications or qualified teacher status (DTLLS or equivalent) will be required to work towards the relevant qualifications. Rate of pay is £19.12 (plus £3.82 holiday pay) per hour to £24.01 (plus £4.80 holiday pay) per hour, depending on teaching qualification and experience. Tutors holding a Certificate in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) or equivalent start at £20.09 (plus £4.02 holiday pay) per hour. Interviews: Wednesday 24 October 2012. | ||||||||||
| Personal Specifications | 1. Relevant subject and teaching qualifications (DTLLS and subject specialism in maths / numeracy). Minimum teaching qualification – PTLLS. 2. Knowledge of maths / numeracy. 3. Awareness of currents trends in adult learning. 4. Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating a maths / numeracy programme to adults and preparing learners for accreditation, including GCSE. 5. Good organisational and classroom management skills. 6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 7. Ability to identify and meet individual and groups learning needs. 8. Ability to communicate effectively and be sensitive to the needs of adult learners with a range of different experiences, backgrounds and skills, and ability to motivate them. 9. Ability to use a variety of teaching and learning methods appropriate for learners. 10. Ability to select, adapt, develop and use effective teaching materials of a high standard and appropriate to the needs of learner. 11. Ability to assess learning. 12. Ability to evaluate course and teaching effectiveness. 13. Ability to keep accurate records and to meet deadlines. 14. Ability to use ICT to support learning 15. To work at least 1 evening or Saturday per week. | ||||||||||
