| Description | Transfusion Music: Part-time Creative Tutor for Family Learning Music & Storytelling Workshops A challenging and dynamic opportunity exists for part-time workshop tutors with experience of teaching adults/parents who are seeking a leading role in an innovative social enterprise. About the organisation: Transfusion Music, founded in 2009, is a small, vibrant community interest company delivering innovative programmes that harness the power of sound and music as catalysts for individual/community change and learning. We are currently teaching parents from underprivileged London families how to use voice, songs, sound, music and storytelling to help stimulate their childrens learning and development especially in relation to literacy and numeracy. We also deliver training sessions to Early Years staff. About the job: We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate people with some experience of adult/family learning or music/storytelling to deliver our workshops for parents. You will receive training in using sound, music and storytelling techniques and initially attending training sessions as a paid assistant. We are looking for someone who after this initial training will be able to deliver workshops independently. Tutors will require an enhanced CRB check. On completion of the training period (approximately 6 sessions) successful applicants will be expected to use the existing course content to deliver our range of training courses to parents and early years staff on a sessional basis as required. Where we work We currently deliver these learning activities in Childrens Centres and nurseries across Hackney and are hoping to deliver in targeted community organisations and other boroughs in due course. | ||||||||||
| Personal Specifications | Qualifications and experience: A degree or equivalent qualification A teaching qualification (minimum PTLLS) Some experience of teaching adult learners. (in either adult SfL programmes or performance). Knowledge and Understanding: Knowledge of key concepts related to literacy and the needs of non-English speaking students Some knowledge or experience in music making and drama Safeguarding procedures Skills & abilities: Good singing voice Ability to play several easily portable instruments eg: guitar, ukulele, piano accordion, recorder A broad range of teaching, learning and assessment skills Good communication skills and a pleasant manner Highly motivated to encourage student development A high standard of personal presentation Confident, professional and welcoming personality Team player, but can also use own initiative. | Pay, Conditions and hours of work | Main duties and responsibilities: Prepare and deliver high quality lessons using our schemes of work and content. Work as part of a team and be prepared to deliver in the East London community. Attend team meetings as required. Contribute to the review and evaluation of projects. Contribute to participant recruitment activities. Promote and implement the policies of the organisation in order to ensure the efficient operation of its business and the welfare and interests of its students, staff and visitors Hours and remuneration: Remuneration - Workshop assistant rate will be £8 per hour. Workshop Tutor rate will be £23 per hour. Workshop sessions vary from 3-5 hours, it is anticipated that there may be several workshops per week. Workshops last six weeks each Contract will be on a sessional basis Applicants should be self-employed | ||||||||||
