| Description |
Functional Skills Delivery
Deliver appropriate Initial and Diagnostic Assessments to individuals and groups, providing guidance to colleagues and learners regarding the analysis of the assessment outcomes
Devise, deliver and manage programmes of study to meet learners’ individual needs and the national functional skills standards from Entry Level to Level 2
Ensure Schemes of Work, lesson plans and group files are maintained and up to data
Track, monitor and report on learner progress
Monitor retention, success and achievement of your cohort of learners and that they meet their aims, as identified on their diagnostic and enrolment level
Ensure delivery of Functional Skills is in line with the aims and targets of the service, meeting a minimum of Grade 2, 'good’ in line with Ofsted requirements
Develop a range of appropriate learning materials for use across the curriculum
Participate in Functional Skills curriculum development and staff training
Carrying out risk assessments as required
Maintain and assist with the continual improvement of quality systems
Attendance and active contribution of meetings, including supervisions
Complete relevant learner registration, tracking and reporting, documentation– in line with funder requirements
Follow and maintain internal quality assurance procedures for qualifications, including delivery and marking of tests and assignments
Participate in Internal Verification, Moderation of work and all assessment and marking relevant to the Functional Skills Award
Assist in the external verification of qualifications in this subject area, liaising with the external verifier as necessary
Provide support to learners in a range of situations/ locations as per their specific needs, one to one, group work, classroom environment, and workplace
Promote a stimulating learning environment using a range of teaching and learning strategies and materials - including the use of resources to encourage development of learners’ skills and understanding
Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of inclusive learning

A teaching qualification (minimum Cert Ed/ DTLLS)
Full membership of the Institute for Learning or other institution
Experience of delivering Functional Skills Maths
English skills at A-C grade G.C.S.E. level or equivalent
Knowledge of health and safety procedures in relation to the delivery of learning
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures in relation to the delivery of learning
Able to carry out risk assessments
Deliver learning across a range of abilities, ages and backgrounds in a way that is motivating, supportive and inspiring
Willingness to gain knowledge of the vocational context studied by our learners (Customer Service, Business & Administration, Childcare, Health & Social Care)
Compliance with continuing professional development requirements to maintain QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills) status
An understanding of the needs of learners in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets
Experience of delivering in a community setting
Experience of delivering learning as part of a team
Excellent communication, written and numerical skills
Able to handle multiple tasks at any one time
Able to work independently and be self-motivated
The ability to portray a professional and positive image of the Bromley by Bow Centre
The ability to be assertive and to respond promptly to problems in a positive way
Skills and Attributes – Desirable to the Post
Assessor Award (D22 and D22 or A1) willingness to work towards this qualification if not held

Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor Maths, Entry Level to Level 2
Service: Learning
Reports to: Learning Manager
Salary Band: £22,000 - £24,000 (FTE) per annum
Subject to professional qualifications achieved
Term duration: Fixed term, Immediate Start
Hours: 10.5 hours per week
