Following extensive discussions with the department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), IfL will be administering government grants to offset the cost of initial teacher training (ITT) for teachers who are studying an approved part-time ITT course from September 2010.

Employers will be able to claim a grant of £400 per individual teacher or trainer through IfL for those who are IfL members. The current agreement is valid only for the 2010/11 financial year. Further details of the project’s operations will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
